Fluid generates trading fees from its exchange operations and shares these fees with Fluid Account users as interest. It’s another example of our unique business model.
We’re not a bank. We are a group of people who want to make the world a better place, by creating a better banking model. One way we do that is by pooling our digital cash and using it in our operations. These interest rates are not guaranteed and they are not fixed. The interest rates are average expected rates that a depositor would receive over a year.
During periods when exchange fees are higher for a specific currency, there are higher rates of interest. When exchange fees are lower, there are lower rates of interest.
Fluid’s interest rates are also free, and automatic. You receive this expected interest just by having a Fluid Account: there is nothing else that you need to do. There is no annual membership fee, nor do you need to move a certain amount of money into a savings account.
Also, to be transparent, interest rates are likely to be more variable in the early stages, as we build our new business model. As we grow and adoption of the Fluid model increases, we expect our target interest rates to become more predictable.

What can I do with the account?
Here are some of the things you can do with your Fluid Account:
- Earn interest on your money, automatically.
- Make free, instant payments to anyone with a Fluid Account or a Traditional Bank Account (including to merchants).
- Make payments to other digital addresses on the blockchain, even if you don’t have a crypto wallet (coming soon).
- Spend your digital cash on Fluid Cards on the Mastercard network globally.
What can’t I do with digital cash?
Send it via the traditional banking system (e.g. using Swift). To do this, you need to have a Traditional Bank Account.
Here’s how the cards work with the account
You can order a Fluid Card from within the apps. To get a card you need to hold at least one Fluid token. You can buy Fluid tokens in the app or on-chain (or you may have been airdropped Fluid tokens by our Founder).
Fluid Cards operate on the Mastercard network and have all of the standard functionalities of a Mastercard debit card.
You have the choice of virtual and physical cards. You have the choice in the app of cards in USD, EUR and GBP.
To get a card, you will be prompted to undergo a simple ID verification process that takes less than a minute. This will allow you also to get a Traditional Bank Account, if you live in one of our jurisdictions. There is no need for you to use this traditional account; you can simply use your Fluid Account with the cards.
Here’s how payments work with the account
Fluid users
You can make payments to anyone with a Fluid Account, anywhere in the world.
Instantaneously.
And for free.
On-chain payments
From your Fluid Account, you can also make payments with our digital cash to anyone who has a blockchain address, even if you don’t have a Web3 wallet (coming soon).
Almost instantaneously.
And at very low cost, depending on the chain.
See transaction timing and costs in the apps.
Of course, you can also simply mint your own digital cash from your Fluid Account to a Web3 wallet and then send digital cash to a blockchain address yourself, if you want.
Traditional banking payments
You can’t make payments through the traditional banking system with your Fluid Account.
To do that you need to open a Traditional Bank Account. You can open a Traditional Bank Account with Fluid if you are resident in a jurisdiction in which we offer banking services (via partners). At the moment, this is the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and the United States (coming soon).
Here’s how to connect the account to your Web3 wallet (if you have one)
- Log in to the web app or the mobile app.
- Connect your Web3 wallet (and then make sure you are on the Arbitrum network).
- That’s it. You now have the world’s first traditional bank account connected to a Web3 wallet.
Check out our video here showing how easy it is to connect to crypto.
